Operation Emporia was an 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment land clearing operation along Route 20 from Gia Tan to the La Nga River. The 11th ACR was ambushed by the VC 275th Regiment and the 1st Battalion of the VC Dong Hai Regiment. The operation resulted in 96 VC and 14 U.S. killed. 23-8 July. The 1967 Detroit riot took place.
