Steve Haskin (born 1947 in New York) is an American horse racing journalist and author. A former Wall Street employee, Haskin became interested in horse racing in 1967. He gained recognition for his annual coverage of the Kentucky Derby, first as National Correspondent for the Daily Racing Form and then as Senior Correspondent at The Blood-Horse until June 2015.

Bayakoa was a bay mare bred by Haras Principal in Argentina though many of her ancestors were from the United States. Her sire Consultant's Bid, exported to Argentina in 1982, [2] was an American-bred son of champion Bold Bidder.
In 1968 he accepted a job in Canada as editor of The Canadian Horse. In 1970 he returned to work for The Blood-Horse as its managing editor, remaining with magazine for another twenty-three years and rising to be its editor-in-chief.
