Octonauts is an animated children's television series, produced by Chorion in series 1 and Silvergate Media starting from series 2 for the BBC channel CBeebies. It is based on the children's books written by Meomi , the design team of Vicki Wong and Michael C. Murphy.
The Octonauts travel for Christmas to Professor Inkling's childhood home, a seamount, but soon get involved in a rescue mission when a rockslide endangers a rare 500-year-old golden coral and traps Professor Inkling's nephew Squirt. They also learn about Christmas tree worms which live in holes in rocks.
