The University of Texas Longhorn Band, also known as the Showband of the Southwest, was founded in 1900 as the marching band of The University of Texas at Austin, and is the largest student spirit organization on the UT campus.

Longhorn Band is a year-long commitment. The spring semester is the concert band season for the LHB. All students in LHB are required to participate in the spring semester. Musicians not part of LHB are encouraged and welcome to audition for performance opportunities during the spring.

Associate Director of the Longhorn Band. Christopher Drew Dickey serves as Associate Director of the Longhorn Band and on the conducting faculty of the Butler School of Music at The University of Texas at Austin, where he is currently completing his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Wind Conducting.
Color Guard Auditions. Students auditioning for the Longhorn Band Color Guard (both new and returning members) must complete a preliminary audition by submitting a video online. The audition will occur in 2 steps: Step 1: Fill out the preliminary audition form. Step 2: Submit a preliminary audition video.
