The Smiley Park Historic District is a residential historic neighborhood in Redlands, California, United States.Adjacent immediately south of the downtown area. The neighborhood is centered on Smiley Park, which was named for benefactors Alfred and Albert Smiley and includes the A. K. Smiley Public Library, the Redlands Bowl and Lincoln Memorial Shrine.

The Redlands Santa Fe Depot District is a historic commercial district and station located in downtown Redlands. The district is centered on Redlands' Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway depot, which was established in 1888.
State Route 38 (SR 38) is a mostly rural and scenic state highway in the U.S. state of California, connecting Interstate 10 in Redlands with State Route 18 in the Big Bear Lake area. It is one of the primary routes into the San Bernardino Mountains. Despite the orientation of its alignment, SR 38 is assigned in a west–east direction. [2]
The canyon was part of the winter homeland of the Serrano people for thousands of years. There were hot springs in the area.. The San Bernardino de Sena Estancia was established in 1819 as a ranch outpost Mission San Gabriel Arcángel, for the grazing of cattle by the Mission Indians.
The library still serves as the Redlands public library. In addition, it houses a collection of materials on native tribes in California donated by Andrew Carnegie, as well as a collection of rare materials about Southern California and local history. [3] The library was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 12, 1976. [1]
Before her death, Mrs Shirk challenged the city of Redlands to raise the funds to purchase 39 acres (0.06 sq mi; 0.16 km 2) of the property around the home and turn it into a botanical park. If the funds were raised, she promised to bequeath the mansion and the estate of 6.25 acres (0.01 sq mi; 0.03 km 2 ) immediately around it to the city.
