The M3 is based on the 3 nm process and contains 25 billion transistors, a 25% increase from the previous generation M2. It has 8 CPU cores (4 performance and 4 efficiency) and up to 10 GPU cores.

[4] In March 2024, Apple introduced M3 chip-equipped MacBook Airs in both their 13- and 15-inch sizes. [5]
The first MacBook Pro with Apple silicon, based on the Apple M1, was released in November 2020. The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros were released on October 26, 2021. Powered by either M1 Pro or M1 Max chips , they are the first to be available only with an Apple silicon system on a chip.
