Between 1994 and 1997 Hacienda FM was a weekly show on Manchester dance station Kiss 102. Security was frequently a problem, particularly in the club's latter years. There were several shootings inside and outside the club, and relations with the police and licensing authorities became troubled.

Lawrence Philpot (July 20, 1954 – November 8, 1992), [3] known as Larry Levan (/ l ə ˈ v æ n / lə-VAN), was an American DJ best known for his decade-long residency at the New York City night club Paradise Garage, which has been described as the prototype of the modern dance club.

It gained him an invite to join Mike Pickering (of M-People fame) at the decks of the renowned The Haçienda club, in 1987, where he played until the venue closed in June 1997. [4] Park and Pickering were credited with putting the club on the map with their successful club nights, notably hosting the visionary "Nude" night on Fridays. [5]

In 1983, Wilson began a Friday night residency at The Haçienda club in Manchester, which had opened the previous year. This was the club's first weekly dance music night and would lay the groundwork for its influential Nude night, also held every Friday, which came to prominence in the mid-'80s with DJs Mike Pickering and Martin Prendergast.
