Metropolis is a 1927 German expressionist science-fiction silent film directed by Fritz Lang and written by Thea von Harbou in collaboration with Lang [4] [5] from von Harbou's 1925 novel of the same name (which was intentionally written as a treatment). Kirchner had been a founding member of the German Expressionist painting group Die Brücke.The artists banded together in 1905 in Dresden and with the goal of promoting an avant-garde artistic style and saw themselves as an avant-garde group that bridged the gap between the classical past and their perception of art of the future.
