Before the Squier line of guitars was introduced in 1982, Fender was making lower priced guitars such as the Fender Lead series at its Fullerton, California plant. Until the introduction of the Fender Squier series, Fender had never produced lower priced guitars based on its main Stratocaster and Telecaster models and had always used different model designs for its lower priced guitars.
The Fender Jazz Bass (often shortened to "J-Bass") is the second model of electric bass created by Leo Fender. It is distinct from the Precision Bass in that its tone is brighter and richer in the midrange and treble [ 1 ] with less emphasis on the fundamental frequency . [ 2 ]

It was released in August 2016 alongside the Squier Ryan Jarman Signature Guitar 'Mus-Uar'. Talking to Total Guitar, Jarman explained that the bass was an amalgamation of his favorite Fender models. Prior to the release of his signature instrument, Jarman had usually been seen using Fender Mustang Basses and Precision Basses. [1]

The Bullet Bass had Mustang style pickups, but was available with a standard 34" neck in addition to the short scale 30" neck that the Mustang had. These instruments were only produced in the US for a couple years until Fender decided to transfer Bullet production to Japan in 1983/84. They then fell under Fender's newly active Squier branding.
