Uttarakhand's diverse ethnicities have created a rich literary tradition in languages including Hindi, Garhwali, Kumaoni, Jaunsari, and Tharu. Many of its traditional tales originated in the form of lyrical ballads and chanted by itinerant singers and are now considered classics of Hindi literature .

Uttarakhand has a total geographic area of 53,483 km 2, of which 86% is mountainous and 65% is covered by forest. [1] Most of the northern parts of the state are part of Greater Himalaya ranges, covered by the high Himalayan peaks and glaciers, while the lower foothills were densely forested till denuded by the British log merchants and later, after independence, by forest contractors.
The park is administered by the Uttarakhand State Forestry Department, the national Ministry of Environment and Forests, India. There is no settlement in the national park and grazing in the area has been banned since 1983. The park is open only for 4 to 5 months during summer from June to October. [1]

Sitabani Wildlife Reserve is a wildlife reserve in Amgarhi, [1] located in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, India. It is home to a variety of flora and fauna , including leopards , tigers , and over 500 species of native and migrating birds , that pass through the area throughout the year.
It is named after prominent Indian freedom fighter and politician Govind Ballabh Pant, who became Home Minister in 1955 and is credited for establishing Hindi as an official language of India. The park was established on 1 March 1955, and is situated in the Uttarkashi district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.
Auli is a hiking and ski destination [4] and after the creation of the state of Uttarakhand, formerly part of Uttar Pradesh, Auli was marketed as a tourist destination. It is surrounded by coniferous and oak forests, with a panoramic view of the peaks of the Himalayas. [4] The slopes are intended for both professional skiers and novices.
