The R1S build would come out to $75,500 for pre-price hike customer. Someone can share what the R1T Quad Motor was for pre price hike customers. You can get a like new less than 300 mile Rivian R1S Quad Motor with Ocean Coast Interior and Red Canyon for $83,995. If you own a truck reduce the prices by roughly $5,000.
I see Rivian's Q4 and all of 2025 and likely the first half of 2026 being a major struggle and it's unlikely they have sufficient liquidity to make it to the R2 launch let alone ramp. Why? 1. Rivian's issue is not product, it's pricing. The dual-motor standard battery is okay, but still near $80K. They need something in the $65-72K price band ...
I agree, well said, I paid $82K last year in Jan. 12K miles on R1T, Adventure Pkg. Quad big Battery, top everything. The title transfer at Rivian was a bit slow, but till I got it I had an "Added Driver" assignment by the seller so I could drive the truck. I had the sellers phone # with agreement he hold my hand if issues happened.
The Rivian is still a more luxurious and capable truck overall. If range is the issue you’d probably be leaning towards the Chevy before the price cut. I wouldn’t cross shop those unless I needed the added range for whatever reason.
I'm confused why you couldn't use a traditional truck camper if it: A. Was under the bed load limit. B. Didn't have the part that extended down over the bumper. (ie. you just use part of the tailgate as the bed) Go easy on me, I'm well versed in the world of travel trailers and motorhomes but truck campers are new to me.
The problem is the Rivian price point is flooded out of reach for the majority of buyers. The reason the last gen Tacoma was the best selling midsize truck was value. If Rivian can release the old Explore package, at $10-15k less than current offerings, they will make huge leaps in a saturated and tired market.
Service isn't great, and it's worse in some areas than others. I'm lucky that we have Atlanta and Nashville, both some of the better service centers Rivian has but service needs to improve. That doesn't mean people need to worry about a bricked truck as a likely outcome.
Rivian can temporarily cut the truck price until they can source the right battery minerals to qualify for the full tax credit. SUV they won’t cut the price but the full tax credit will help bring in price conscious buyers. this gives them plenty of time to let rates come back down and enduro dual motors to roll out.
