Wikimapia (stylized as wikimapia) is a geographic online encyclopedia project. The project implements an interactive clickable web map that utilizes Google Maps with a geographically-referenced wiki system, with the aim to mark and describe all geographical objects in the world.

It is best to double check on a mapping site such as WikiMapia. Cordinates obtained in China from commercial sources (Google, Bing, Baidu, etc.) may be obfuscated with GCJ-02 or BD-09. Vector sources are more frequently affected than satellite sources. Use this gadget to obtain deobfuscated coordinates, then double check on OpenStreetMap.
Volunteered geographic information (VGI) is the harnessing of tools to create, assemble, and disseminate geographic data provided voluntarily by individuals.
