The Thebes tablets, with inscriptions in Mycenaean Greek using Linear B, were discovered in Thebes, Greece. They belong to the Late Helladic IIIB context, contemporary with finds at Pylos . A first group of 21 fragments was found in the 1963–64 campaign; [ 1 ] A further 19 tablets were found in 1970 and 1972. [ 2 ]
Mycenae and Tiryns, which stand as the pinnacle of the early phases of Greek civilisation, provided unique witness to political, social and economic growth during the Mycenaean civilization. The accomplishments of the Mycenaean civilisation in art, architecture and technology, which inspired European cultures, are also on display at both locations.
Mycenaean Greece (or the Mycenaean civilization) was the last phase of the Bronze Age in ancient Greece, spanning the period from approximately 1750 to 1050 BC. [1] It represents the first advanced and distinctively Greek civilization in mainland Greece with its palatial states, urban organization, works of art, and writing system.
It is likely that they were made by the same craftsmen who made Mycenaean vases, as the decoration techniques are similar. [ 3 ] Examples of such figurines are held by the Goulandris Museum of Cycladic Art (Athens), [ 4 ] the British Museum (London), [ 5 ] and the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York) among other places.

In the post-Minoan world, Mycenaean art concentrates on human interactions, where the natural world takes a lessened role, [2] and following the collapse of Mycenaean palace-culture and the loss of the literacy connected with it, pleasure gardens are unlikely to have been a feature of the Greek Dark Age.
