The album was released by Imperial Records in the US in May 1967 [1] and by Capitol Records in Canada, under the title The Hits of the Hollies and with two different tracks, in July 1967. [2] It was the Hollies' highest charting album in the US, peaking at number eleven during a chart stay of forty weeks. [ 3 ]
In 1967, the Hollies transferred the US and Canadian rights to all new material to Epic Records. Unlike Imperial Records in the US, Capitol Canada had opted not to issue a version of Hollies when it was released in 1965, choosing instead to release an edited version of the almost year-old album In The Hollies Style.
The cover shown is the US/Canadian cover, which used the same Karl Ferris photograph but differed from the UK cover by dispensing with The Fool's overall cover design. Instead, the US/Canadian cover put the Hollies' name on the cover in different lettering, placed the album title on the cover, and then overlaid a paisley-patterned image.
