The EOG is given to test skills in mathematics, English, and science. Students in grades 3 to 8 must take the mathematics and English End of Grade Tests. Students in grades 5 and 8 must take all three. Achievement levels are measured through levels of proficiency, and it differs depending on what grade a student is in.
These must be completed 10 days before or after 85% of a school's year has passed. The California Standards Tests (CSTs) are designed to match the state's academic content standards for each grade. Grades 2 through 8 tests cover mathematics and English/language arts (which includes writing in grades 4 and 7).
The Principles and Standards for School Mathematics was developed by the NCTM. The NCTM's stated intent was to improve mathematics education. The contents were based on surveys of existing curriculum materials, curricula and policies from many countries, educational research publications, and government agencies such as the U.S. National Science Foundation. The PSSA applies to all public schools and districts, including charter schools and cyber charter schools. The questions are based on Common Core Standards and content expectations. The goal is to have 100% of students proficient or above in reading and math by 2014. [6]
The test formats are relatively the same compared to the TAKS test in 3-8 grade, however in 9-11th grade end of course tests will be taken to supplement the normal tests taken while the TAKS was still in effect. National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP); State achievement tests are standardized tests.These may be required in American public schools for the schools to receive federal funding, according to the US Public Law 107-110 originally passed as Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, and currently authorized as Every Student Succeeds Act in 2015.
