The 1989 Texas A&M Aggies football team represented Texas A&M University for the 96th consecutive season. Former head coach Jackie Sherrill resigned after a 7-5 1988 season marred by NCAA violations that left the program on probation. Sherrill's defensive coordinator, R.C. Slocum, remained in College Station to take the reins as head coach.
