Fallingwater is named for the location of the main house, [19] [20] which is oriented roughly south-southeast. [21] The Bear Run stream, a tributary of the Youghiogheny River, has an upper falls about 20–30 feet (6.1–9.1 m) high (where the main house is situated) and a lower falls about 7–10 feet (2.1–3.0 m) high.
