The Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB) is a Department of the Ministry of Local Government of Jamaica and is the fire brigade of Jamaica. It was established in Kingston in 1871. [ 1 ]
The "Fire Brigade Act" passed in October 1988, stripping fire-fighters and fire officers of the right to joint a union. Many members of the Fire Brigade refused to end their JALGO memberships, and in 1990 the act was amended to restore the right to join the union. [3] [6]
