Old Montreal (French: Vieux-Montréal, pronounced [vjø mɔ̃ʁeal]) is a historic neighbourhood within the municipality of Montreal in the province of Quebec, Canada.Home to the Old Port of Montreal, the neighbourhood is bordered on the west by McGill Street, on the north by Ruelle des Fortifications, on the east by rue Saint-André, and on the south by the Saint Lawrence River.

Notre-Dame Street (officially in French: Rue Notre-Dame) is a historic east–west street located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It runs parallel to the Saint Lawrence River , from Lachine to the eastern tip of the island in Pointe-aux-Trembles , [ 1 ] [ 2 ] then continuing off the island into the Lanaudière region.
During the high tourist season, the street hosts many street artists and kiosks. During the Christmas season, the street is lined with lighted trees. At any time of year, one can find restaurants on both sides of the street and many more on the surrounding streets of Vieux Port, notably on Rue Saint-Paul. It is a car-free zone in the summer. [2]
The riverside area adjacent to Old Montreal is known as the Old Port. The Old Port was the former site of the worldwide Port of Montreal, but its shipping operations have been moved further east to its current larger site, leaving the former location as a recreational and historical area maintained by Parks Canada.
