Ogikubo (Japanese: 荻窪) is a suburban, residential area of Tokyo in Suginami ward, approximately 8 km west of Shinjuku.Ogikubo has the Ogikubo Station on the JR Chūō Line (Rapid), the JR Chūō-Sōbu Line, the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line (terminus) and the Tokyo Metro Tōzai Line extension (which runs on the Chūō-Sōbu Line tracks).
Passengers wishing to change from the Chūō-Sōbu Line to the Yamanote Line must do so at the next eastbound stop, Shinjuku. Near the station, Okubo-dori (Okubo street) and surrounding side streets are lined with shops selling Korean food and pop-culture items. Also in the vicinity are Korean-themed bars, nightclubs, and restaurants. [1]
The station consists of three separate island platforms serving two tracks for each respective line. The platforms for the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line and Fukutoshin Line are interlinked, but transfer to and from the Toei Shinjuku Line requires passing through the Toei and Tokyo Metro station ticket barriers on the main concourse.
