Gibson House menu on March 11, 1860 Early advertisement for the Gibson House. The Gibson House was a well-known and well-regarded hotel in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the precursor of the Hotel Gibson. The Gibson House was located on Main St. between 4th & 5th (south of Fountain Square) until the 1970s.
The hotel celebrated its grand reopening as the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Utica on October 24, 2017. [6] On August 13 2018, Donald Trump spoke at a fundraiser for congresswoman Claudia Tenney at the Hotel Utica. [7] This was the first time a president had visited the Hotel Utica, and the Mohawk Valley, in nearly 70 years. [8]
Designed by Joseph G. Steinkamp & Brother, the Neoclassical-styled [2] Hotel Metropole opened in 1912 in downtown Cincinnati as a 10-story hotel. In 1924 an 11th floor penthouse apartment was added. In 1971 the building was converted to low-income housing with retail and restaurants on the first floor. [3]
