Airport Terminal 1 (Arabic: المطار- مبنى رقم 1) is a rapid transit station on the Red Line [1] of the Dubai Metro in Dubai, UAE, serving the Terminal 1 of Dubai International Airport. [2] [3] The station opened as part of the Red Line on 30 April 2010.
The airport is located 16.5 nautical miles (30.6 km; 19.0 mi) east of Abu Dhabi, and covers an area of 15,000 acres (6,000 ha). [3] The airport is served by 24 airlines which fly to 128 destinations. [4] The airport was renamed to Zayed International Airport on 9 February 2024 after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE's founder.
The project was originally expected to be fully operational by 2017, although the 2007–2008 financial crisis subsequently postponed the completion of the complex to 2027. Previous working names for the airport complex have included "Jebel Ali International Airport", "Jebel Ali Airport City", and "Dubai World Central International Airport".
