Gene Barry (born Eugene Klass; June 14, 1919 – December 9, 2009) was an American stage, screen, and television actor and singer.Barry is best remembered for his leading roles in the films The Atomic City (1952) and The War of the Worlds (1953) and for his portrayal of the title characters in the TV series Bat Masterson and Burke's Law, among many roles.
Lee also sang the Bat Masterson theme song from the popular television series. Lee also provided the singing voice for John Kerr in South Pacific, Christopher Plummer in The Sound of Music, [5] and John Gavin in Thoroughly Modern Millie. [6] Lee died of a brain tumor on November 15, 1980, in Los Angeles, California. [1]
After Masterson's recovery, he replaced Larry Deger as the town marshal. It is commonly believed that he replaced lawman Wyatt Earp, but it was actually Deger.
