DataLounge (also styled as Datalounge and The Data Lounge) is an internet forum. Its core community, predominantly composed of anonymous posters, shares news, opinions, gossip, personal stories, and political views from a gay perspective. A key focus of the forum is discussing and speculating about the sexuality of celebrities.
A directory is also a site where users can find other websites. Some sites focus on certain content – such as etree that focuses on live concerts – and some have no particular focus, like The Pirate Bay. Some sites specialize as search engines of other BitTorrent sites.
Since then it has worked to produce several hundred websites, with clients ranging from small nonprofits to large multi-national corporations. For a period the company operated a string of gay sites under the moniker 'The Datalounge Network'. These included HomoRama.com, Gayvote.com, GayHealth.com, SouthernVoice.com and HoustonVoice.com. In April 2007, a rumour was confirmed on the Swedish talk show Bert that The Pirate Bay had received financial support from right-wing entrepreneur Carl Lundström. This caused some consternation since Lundström, an heir to the Wasabröd fortune, is known for financing several far-right political parties and movements like Sverigedemokraterna and Bevara Sverige Svenskt (Keep Sweden Swedish).
As such, sites linking to sites which acted as proxies to The Pirate Bay were themselves added to the list of banned sites, including piratebayproxy.co.uk, piratebayproxylist.com and ukbay.org. This led to the indirect blocking (or hiding) of sites at the following domains, among others: [22] [23]
