Backyard Baseball is a baseball video game developed and published by Humongous Entertainment. It is the first video game released for the Backyard Sports franchise (originally known as the Junior Sports series) [ 2 ] and the long-running Backyard Baseball series.
It is part of the Backyard Sports series, of which this series serves as its first sub-series. The original game consisted of 30 neighborhood kids from which the player must build a team. [ 1 ] Over the years, the idea of "Pro players as kids" became popular, and the original statistics and looks of the players changed.
The series began in late 1997 when Humongous Entertainment, owned by GT Interactive, created the first game in the franchise: Backyard Baseball. [3] Later, GT Interactive was purchased by Infogrames and was renamed as Infogrames, Inc.
