2000 The Kry was nominated by the Gospel Music Association for a Dove Award for their album "Let Me Say" in the category of Recorded Music Packaging of the Year. Gospel Music Association Canada Covenant Awards. 2007 The Kry won Francophone Album of the Year with "Peut Être", and Francophone Song of the Year with "Merveilleux".
In 1967, Radio-Canada released The Centennial Collection of Canadian Folk Songs (much of which was focused on French-Canadian music), which helped launch a revival of Quebec folk. Singers like Yves Albert , Edith Butler , and, especially, Félix Leclerc and Gilles Vigneault , helped lead the way.

Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Étienne began performing at the young age of nine and a half years old. [2] While attending the University of Windsor, where he graduated with a B.A. in French Language and Literature and a B.Ed., he began composing his first few educational songs while attending Teachers' College in 1993.
The song was written in both of Canada's official languages, English and French. The song's recording was performed by the Young Canada Singers, two groups of children — one that sang the French lyrics, led by Montreal conductor Raymond Berthiaume, and another that sang in English, under conductor Laurie Bower [2] in Toronto. [3]
Listening to the classic French singers of the time on radio, such as Edith Piaf and Charles Trenet, inspired him as well. But his musical revelation came when he heard Félix Leclerc for the first time on the radio. From then on, he wanted to make music and, like Leclerc, sing simple, direct songs about everyday life.
