Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) is the public school district serving Miami-Dade County in the U.S. state of Florida.Founded in 1885, it is the largest school district in Florida, the largest in the Southeastern United States, and the third-largest [4] in the United States [5] with a student enrollment of 356,589 as of August 30, 2021.
The school has a strict policy to remove students not living within its boundaries. As a result, the school's overcrowding has been significantly reduced. This policy may have helped improve Miami Springs' test scores, helping raise it from a D rating in 2003 to a B rating in 2005 and 2006. As of 2013, Miami Springs is an A school.
K–8 centers are generally set up to serve communities with limited building space for two separate campuses. They are run as both an elementary and middle school out of the same campus, with joint administration, staff, and schedules. Young Women's Preparatory Academy (YWPA) is a grade 6-12 magnet school for girls, located in the Little Havana neighborhood of Miami, Florida, United States. It is a part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS). YWPA was the first public school established in South Florida that was only for girls. [2]
In 2010–11, Miami Northwestern received a "B" on the School Accountability Report, the highest grade ever received by an inner-city school in Miami-Dade County.
