6.5 Grendel 16”, 123gr SST, Litz .462 G1 BC (lower than Hornady’s .512), 2440fps. 200yds 2085fps 1188ft-lbs. 300yds 1920fps 1007ft-lbs. The main place you will see an advantage with the higher BC 6mm target bullets is from long barrels, with trajectory more like a 6.5CM.

Re: 6.5 Grendel Upper. I have Alexander arms 18.5 inch and Midwayusa AR stoner 18 inch they shoot equal and are low cost, both are stainless and both are threaded. most accurate is 120 grain, but I get great accuracy from BLC and 123 Grain Amax rounds. Stoner.
Skagit Valley, WA. May 1, 2020. #10. One of my buds bought the 12.5" PSA 6.5 grendel upper and brought it over for me to go through it. Only issue I found is the chamber was a little rough, so I honed that and it's been good to go since then. He hasn't tested it for accuracy yet but it seems to shoot well enough.
This provides more consistent upward pressure on the bolt carrier throughout the five rounds being fired. This makes an even bigger difference in the large frame AR's than the small frame ones. I'd be interested to see how your LaRue 6.5 Grendel upper shoots NOW for you with the original components installed.
The Mutant is not a standard AR15. Nov 19, 2018. #17. I’ve noticed more interest in 6.5 Grendel this year than a LONG time...but as mentioned 224V is the “new hawtness” and has sucked the air out of other chamberings recently. I’m seriously considering a 12” Grendel upper for one of my SBRs. Maddvaper, AndrewR, lou400a and 1 other person.
3. 43. MD. Feb 5, 2020. #1. I recently purchased an 18 inch 6.5 Grendel complete upper from PSA. The fit and finish are good as well as reliability, however I can’t say the same for its accuracy. With Hornady Black 123 gr ELD I was getting about 3 MOA. Basic build info is CMMG lower receiver parts kit and a Viper Vortex 4-16 HS LR scope.
The difference in muzzle velocity between 6mm and 6.5 Grendel really surprised me when looking at the lighter bullets. 12” Grendel generates the upper end of speeds for an 18” 6mm with 80-90gr, for example. A 10.5” Grendel will match 18” 6mm speeds with the same bullet weights.
