St. Francis Xavier College Church is a Catholic church in the Midtown neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri, United States. The church was built by the Society of Jesus in 1836: the current building dates from 1884. [2] It serves as a parish church in the Archdiocese of St. Louis and for the Saint Louis University community.
Its stained glass windows were crafted by the St. Louis glazier Emil Frei, Sr. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Since 2005 the church has been operated by the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, which practices the Latin liturgy and emphasizes the liturgical arts, with a strong music program.
After their capstone concert event, "Coming Home - A Final Celebration" in St. Louis in 2019, the group took their final bow of gratitude. [7] All five members returned to St Louis University to receive 2021 honorary degrees for their legacy contributions to liturgical music and were awarded Doctor of Music, Honoris Causa, St Louis University.
