Btw, Ocean Kayak has reintroduced the Scupper Pro again this year in case you are not aware. If in the Seattle area, you can pick up a blem SP for $500…good deal as a blem is usually a color flaw. system June 18, 2009, 12:08am #7. Out of budget.
Hi, I am looking for a new sit on top kayak for use in Florida. My main concern is that it be light weight. My old kayak is an ocean kayak Trident 13. Really want something lighter. I am considering the Eddyline Caribbean 12 or the hurricane skimmer 116 or 128. Does anybody have experience with these kayaks? Curious if they can handle surf well? I do not usually launch from the beach, but it ...
For lighter weight new composite boats, they will usually start at around $2800 for fiberglass, $3600 for Kevlar, and $4200- 5000+ for carbon Kevlar. Each step up will generally save 5-7lbs each. A new plastic touring kayak can be as little as $1600, but will often weigh in excess or 60lbs. All boats are a compromise.
Advice. Follow up to Elevation’s informative posts (thank you!) in the C-Tug thread about buying a Delta 14 knockoff from Ridgeside in Ningbo, China, and having it shipped to Australia, distance about 5,000 miles. Total cost with shipping about $1115 USD. I paid $1300 for a new Delta 12.10 (regular price $1500) last July, so pretty close to ...
Sprinter Kayak The Sprinter made by Ocean Kayak is no longer shipped to the U.S. I am also looking for one (used). I had one, but sold it when we moved. Shortly after, they stopped selling to the US market. I LOVED mine! Good luck, hope you fine one! If you fine a dealer that has them PLEASE email me! I’ll do the same for you.
Though only 22.5" beam it is quite stable yet handles rougher conditions nicely. plus it only weighs 45 pounds. They do pop up used at times, at least in my part of the Northeast, Usually for between $500 and $750. Captnpbrown September 1, 2024, 2:25pm #5. Thanks guys for your replies.
The Swell 14 is really the updated version of the Ocean Kayak Scupper Pro (I have two of these and really like them) that is designed by Tim Niemier. It’s a really good sit on top that paddles pretty fast, unlike a lot of the SOT barges catering to fisher folks.
The classic, Ocean Kayak Scupper Pro is 14'-9", in either the twin hatch or tankwell versions. The even earlier OK Scupper Classic model is 14'-1" . We know, we have one of each. Either the seller doesn't have an S-Pro, they have a REALLY inaccurate tape measure, or they've made one heckuva typo. PADDLE ON!
My Ocean Kayak has been in storage for a long time. I used it over the weekend and need to repair and replace a few things like straps and hatch gaskets. I don’t believe these kayaks are being made any longer. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to find parts? PaddleDog52 August 18, 2024, 10:42pm #2. Ocean kayaks or topkayaker.com.
2 buddies and I have come to the conclusion that not only do we want to camp on Catalina Island off of the coast of California (about 24 miles from the coast) but that we would like to Kayak/Canoe there. Now realize that we have very little kayak/canoe experience (ocean harbors and lakes only). We have a proposed date of summer 2011.
