Morningside Nature Center is a 416-acre nature park [1] located in Gainesville, Alachua County in the U.S. state of Florida and overseen by the City of Gainesville. [2] It features a living history farm meant to simulate a North Florida family homestead from the mid to late 1800s.
Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park is a Florida State Park, encompassing a 21,000-acre (85 km 2) savanna in Alachua County, Florida lying between Micanopy and Gainesville. It is also a U.S. National Natural Landmark. It is crossed by both I-75 and U.S. 441 (which has a scenic outlook ramp). It is in the center of the Paynes Prairie Basin.
The most prominent feature of the state park is the large sinkhole formed by the dissolution of limestone by acidic groundwater over long periods of time. [1] Devil's Millhopper is unique in Florida in terms of its scale; over 100 feet (30 m) of rock layers are exposed.

The gardens were established in 1978 when the society leased 33 acres (13.4 hectares) for a public botanical garden. Another 29 acres (11.7 hectares) were added in 1982. The gardens opened to the public in 1986. As of 2005, the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens contain Florida's largest public bamboo gardens and the largest herb garden in the Southeast.
Gold Head Branch State Park, a Florida State Park, is just shy of 2400 acres (8 km²) of rolling sandhills, marshes, ravines, lakes and scrub located midway between Gainesville and Jacksonville, six miles (10 km) north of Keystone Heights on SR 21. Gold Head is one of the earliest state parks in Florida.
