The Basic Text called Narcotics Anonymous is divided into two books. Book one discusses the basics of the NA program and the twelve steps and traditions. Book two is composed of many personal stories. [11] It Works: How and Why offers detailed discussion of the twelve steps and traditions.
Day by Day was written when there were fewer than 200 Narcotics Anonymous meetings held worldwide, [3] and was the group's effort to produce twelve step literature inclusive of addicts. Most of Narcotics Anonymous early literature was written by Jimmy Kinnon and is still used worldwide today in over 70,000 NA meetings.
