Edgewood enrolls students from grades seven through twelve. It is part of the Brevard Public Schools System. It was the second "School of Choice" in Brevard County. The school has been in operation since 1960, first as Edgewood Middle School, then Edgewood Junior High and now as Edgewood Junior/Senior High School.
Brevard leads the state in the number of high school students dual enrolled in secondary and college courses. Percentage of students using drugs other than marijuana in their lifetime reached a high of 28% for high school students in 2008, and a high of 18.2% for middle school students in 2010. [8]

Heritage High opened August 10, 2009, with 9th and 10th grade students. In 2010, 11th grade was added. In August 2011, the school officially became a high school with 9-12 grade with its first Senior class graduating in 2012.
