Division Street is a major north–south street in Spokane, Washington, United States.It travels approximately 11 miles (18 km) through a majority of the city, albeit non-contiguously through its southern portions, extending from the South Hill to Spokane's northern border and beyond into Spokane County, where it intersects with the North Spokane Corridor.
The North Spokane Corridor is planned to bypass the busy Division Street corridor. The new freeway will carry the US 395 designation and run about one mile (1.6 km) east of where it was originally planned in the 1960s and 1970s.
The northeast side of Spokane extends roughly 7 miles (11 km) north from Downtown Spokane into the suburban Mead area. It is bounded on the west by Division St., the city's north–south meridian, and is bounded on the south by Interstate 90.
However, in December 2019, [12] STA and the Spokane Regional Transportation Council began a $1 million study to evaluate how transportation and land-use along the North Division Street corridor could be transformed after the anticipated 2029 completion of the North Spokane Corridor, which is expected decrease traffic levels along Division Street.
Most of the northern border with Country Homes runs along Country Homes Boulevard. Division Street, carrying U.S. Route 2 was the eastern border until 2008, when the city of Spokane annexed some of Town and Country. Division is still the eastern border from Country Homes Boulevard south to Lincoln Road.
