Smederevo (Serbian Cyrillic: Смедерево, pronounced [smêdereʋo] ⓘ) is a city and the administrative center of the Podunavlje District in eastern Serbia. It is situated on the right bank of the Danube , about 45 kilometres (28 miles) downstream of the Serbian capital, Belgrade .
Smederevo was the capital of the Serb State in the fourteenth century - there stood the royal palace at the time of the then Serbian ruler Đurađ Branković.Today, in the remnants of the Smederevo fortress, finished in 1430, traces of the former palace, chapel, and the house of the royal family can be discerned.

It is used mostly for football matches and is the home of FK Smederevo 1924. The stadium has a seating capacity for 17,200 spectators.
The hall is located within the SC Smederevo. It is the home arena of domestic KK Smederevo 1953 , OK Smederevo Carina , RK Smederevo as well as other sports clubs from Smederevo. In the 2013/2014 season the arena was a home of basketball club KK Mega Vizura , who played in the regional ABA League. [ 1 ]
In the summer of 2004, the club changed its name back to FK Smederevo. [2] [3] The most noted player is former team captain Goran Bogdanović. He retired after the 2003–04 season. [4] In summer 2014, FK Smederevo merged with FK Seljak from Mihajlovac to form FK Semendrija 1924. In January 2015, the club changed its name to FK Smederevo 1924.
