The NWA Tri-State Heavyweight Championship was a professional wrestling heavyweight championship in Tri-States Wrestling (NWA Tri-State). The original version was created in 1954, however, it was phased out in favor of the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship.
For most of its existence, the title was the Tri-State version of the NWA United States Tag Team Championship. [ 2 ] This group of promoters existed until Bill Watts ' Mid-South Wrestling bought out the majority of the Tri-State territory, and also Gil Culkin and George Gulkin's Mississippi territory, in August 1979. [ 1 ]
