The Austin Loadstar was a truck produced by the British Austin Motor Company from 1949. It was Austin's first new truck design after World War II and the last stand-alone one. This 1 made the Loadstar a significant model for Austin, as it was their final truck design before merging with Morris Motors to form the British Motor Corporation (BMC).
Production of these trucks started in 1955. Whereas Morris had thus far focused on cab-over-engine trucks with a greater focus on fast and high-volume transport, the Austin Loadstar was a heavier truck more suitable as a construction vehicle, artic tractor or breakdown vehicle, and for export.

The engine was first used in the Austin K30 light truck and Austin K2/Y military ambulance 1939. After the war, it continued to power the later Austin Loadstar 1-ton truck and the 4x4 variant K9. Post war, it went on to power a number of cars such as the Austin Sheerline and Princess luxury vehicles, Jensen Interceptor and Jensen 541.
