There are two divisions, Elementary and Middle School. Elementary level problems are for grades 4-6 and Middle School level problems are for grades 7-8, though 4-6 graders may participate in Middle School problems. Two papers are set, each with 3 problems. The examination is held on two consecutive mornings, and contestants have 4 hours and 30 minutes each day to work on the 3 problems.
