Infinity Systems is an American manufacturer of loudspeakers founded in Los Angeles in 1968 and headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut. [1] Since 1983, Infinity has been part of Harman International Industries , which became a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics in 2017.
The company that would become CBS Radio was founded in 1972 as Infinity Broadcasting Corporation by Michael A. Wiener and Gerald Carrus, with the acquisition of KOME, an FM radio station that served the San Francisco Bay Area. It became a publicly traded company twice, in 1986, and again in 1992.
In June 1993 it was agreed for Infinity to purchase KRTH in Los Angeles from Beasley Broadcast Group for $110 million, the highest price ever paid for a radio station. [42] As an approval from the FCC was required for the transfer of licenses, [ 36 ] the outcome was delayed while further indecency complaints about Stern were investigated. [ 43 ]
