It is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Rosario. The basilica is located on the oldest part of the city, at the corner of Buenos Aires St. and Córdoba St. , besides the Palacio de los Leones (that is, the municipal building), across the pedestrian path called Pasaje Juramento ("Oath Passage") that leads into the National Flag Memorial .

The Santo Domingo Convent, or Basilic of Our Lady of the Rosary and Convent of Santo Domingo is a convent for Our Lady of the Rosary located in the Monserrat neighborhood of Buenos Aires. Built during the colonial times, it was the scenario of a military conflict during the British invasions of the Río de la Plata .
Nuestra Señora del Rosario was likely commissioned sometime in the mid-1580s though the exact date is unknown and was laid down and constructed at Ribadeo, Lugo, Galicia. She was designed by Spanish shipbuilder Vicente Alvarez. She was launched in 1587 and handed over to the Armada Real at Corunna. [1]
