The bride was one of the first trunk line bridges constructed using the Michigan State Highway Department's steel stringer design. Of the 22 total trunk line bridges the department listed in its 1913–1914 biennial report, almost half were stringer bridges, and of these Pike River Bridge is the only one to remain undemolished and unaltered.
The Indiana half of Ray lies in northeastern Fremont Township in the northeastern part of Steuben County. Surrounding towns include Clear Lake to the southeast and Fremont to the southwest. [4] The former Cedar Lake, now a marshy area, lies southwest of Ray and east of Fremont. [2] Ray once ran a post office from 1872 to 1960. [5]

The Edward E. Washington Township is in northwestern Macomb County and is bordered to the west by Oakland County. The village of Romeo is partially in the northeast part of the township. Ray Township is to the east, Shelby Township is to the south, and Bruce Township is to the north. Washington Township is 28 to 34 miles (45 to 55 km) north of downtown Detroit.
District 8, as dictated by the 2011 Apportionment Plan, was based in northern and coastal Macomb County to the north of Detroit, including the communities of St. Clair Shores, Harrison Township, Mount Clemens, Chesterfield Township, New Baltimore, Lenox Township, New Haven, Ray Township, Utica, Shelby Township, Washington Township, Romeo, and Bruce Township.
Armada Township is adjacent to the east and Ray Township to the southeast. M-53 passes through the east side of the village, leading north 16 miles (26 km) to Imlay City and south 30 miles (48 km) to the eastern side of Detroit .
