The Moseley Railway Trust is a major British collection of industrial narrow gauge locomotives and other equipment. It originally had its base in south Manchester, but has relocated to the Apedale Community Country Park near Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, where the Apedale Valley Light Railway and an important museum are being established next to the Apedale Heritage Centre.
Within the park is the Apedale Heritage Centre. The adjoining Moseley Railway Trust [2] is currently running the first phase of the 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge Apedale Valley Light Railway extending further into the parkland. There is a series of tracks, waymarked routes and self-guided trails.
The Apedale Heritage Centre was created at the site of Staffordshire's Apedale Mine and is run by volunteers. It is located just outside the village of Chesterton near Newcastle-under-Lyme in the Apedale Community Country Park .
The War Department Light Railways were a system of narrow gauge trench railways run by the British War Department in World War I. Light railways made an important contribution to the Allied war effort in the First World War, and were used for the supply of ammunition and stores, the transport of troops and the evacuation of the wounded.
It is suggested that the eastern route could run as a light rail track alongside the Bristol and Bath Railway Path, which would not have to close. [12] According to the city's 2050 vision document, the first mass transit route is hoped to begin construction in 2022 and be completed by 2028, with the entire four-line network complete by 2034.
