The 11th Hussars (Prince Albert's Own) was a cavalry regiment of the British Army established in 1715. It saw service for three centuries including the First World War and Second World War but then amalgamated with the 10th Royal Hussars (Prince of Wales' Own) to form the Royal Hussars in 1969.
On 1 August 1903, the 54th Richmond Regiment was converted from infantry to cavalry and redesignated as the 11th Hussars. [1] [3] With the outbreak of the First World War, the 11th Hussars along with the 7th Hussars provided volunteers help raise the 5th Canadian Mounted Rifles for service with the Canadian Expeditionary Force. The 7th/11th Hussars was a light cavalry regiment and later light armoured regiment of the Non-Permanent Active Militia of the Canadian Militia (now the Canadian Army). The regiment was formed in 1936 by the amalgamation of the 7th Hussars and the 11th Hussars from the Eastern Townships of Quebec.

A third 11th Hussar Regiment was set up at Sidi Bel Abbès in 1873, formed of one squadron from the 1st Chasseurs and other squadrons from the 1st, 3rd and 8th Hussars. A 1905 postcard showing the unit. This regiment was disbanded in 1919, after serving in the First World War.
