Hesperoyucca whipplei (syn. Yucca whipplei), the chaparral yucca, [2] our Lord's candle, [2] Spanish bayonet, [3] Quixote yucca [2] or foothill yucca, [4] is a species of flowering plant closely related to, and formerly usually included in, the genus Yucca. It is native to southwest communities of North America.
The shrub can grow to 1.8 to 2.4 metres (6 to 8 ft) in height and generally is about 45 to 60 cm (18 to 24 in) in width. [13] The leaf is a simple angiosperm leaf, arranged oppositely on the stem. [ 4 ] [ 13 ] Each leaf is sessile (attaching directly to the plant), and about 35 to 75 mm (1.4 to 3 in) in length.
Caulanthus inflatus is an annual plant growing up to 70 cm in height, with a thick, swollen, hollow stem that is "conspicuously inflated" [4] with an unspecified gas, and looks like a yellow candle. The basal leaves are 2–7 cm long, smaller higher up the stem. The flowers are small, with four reddish-purple petals. [5] and six stamens.
The white candle-like flowers that bloom in spring open to release fine seeds to be blown in the wind. Spreading their seed easily in spring. [ 8 ] It’s a slow growing plant that takes it time to establish roots, however once established they will grow to 25 m at their best.
Myrtillocactus geometrizans is a large shrubby cactus growing to 4–5 m tall, with candelabra-like branching on mature plants. The individual stems are 6–10 cm diameter, with five (occasionally six) ribs, with areoles spaced 1.5–3 cm apart.

This is an ideal plant for shady spots in gardens. It grows very slowly but once established it is tough and attractive, and survives deep shade where other plants would die. It grows much faster if it is watered regularly, and should be allowed to establish itself, free from competition from faster-growing groundcovers.
