Cambria Township is located in the center of Cambria County at 40.515887,-78.744507, [4] 23 miles (37 km) northeast of Johnstown and 25 miles (40 km) west of Altoona. U.S. Route 22 crosses the township from east to west, U.S. Route 219 crosses it from north to south, and U.S. Route 422 leads west from Ebensburg across the western portion of the township.
The streetcar tram left from the Jerome terminus every two hours for the 60-minute trip that ended on downtown Johnstown's Main Street. This begins a section of the highway that runs parallel to two other highways, PA 43 and PA 857, till the PA 857 terminus at the Uniontown bypass in South Union Township. US 119 merges with US 40 to form part of the George C. Marshall Parkway, which bypasses the city of Uniontown to the west and north.
Uniontown Hospital, the larger of two hospitals in the county, is the city's and Fayette County's largest employer. The City of Uniontown operates a full-time police department. The city police station houses a booking center used by all police agencies within Fayette County, including the Pennsylvania State Police.
