Eric is the oldest of the Staal brothers, who include former teammates Marc, Jordan, and Jared. Staal is a member of the Triple Gold Club, having won the Stanley Cup with the Hurricanes in 2006, and both the 2007 World Championships and the 2010 Winter Olympics with Team Canada.
Like Eric, Marc was a part of the YoungStars game at the All-Star Game in his rookie season. In 2010, after signing a 5-year extension with the Rangers, as well as a strong training camp, Marc was named an alternate captain of the team.
