I'm a bit suspicious about it because I changed the battery in the fob a week or two ago when the alert occurred (and it stopped) and now I am getting the alert again.

    When way low battery works is there is a circuit in the fob that sets a "battery ok" status bit that is sent to the car along with the fob's ID code. Another status bit is if the fob is driver 1 or driver 2. Try a different fresh new CR2032. A CR2032 with good shelf life remaining should measure 3.3-.3.35 vdc unloaded.

    The battery is a CR2032. Just get a good branded one with a best before/use by date that is far out and you should get at least a couple years again. Note that these keyless fobs in cars with them are pretty chatty with the car when they are nearby/in them so a cheap dollar store battery will likely not last as long.

    FYI: You can always start your car even with a dead fob. If the battery is ever completely dead, just press the start button WITH the fob itself. There's a RFID type chip inside the fob that gets scanned when it's at close range with the button.

Remove the emergency key from the end of the remote by pulling it out, then use a small picktool, jewelers screwdriver or your fingernails to pry the remote apart to install new battery.     To change the battery you will need to remove the screw on the back of the remote and then use a small flat blade screwdriver to pop the remote in half to access the battery.
