It was owned by the Hamilton Watch Company and was used as their headquarters from its founding in 1892 until 1980. The complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Created in the Beaux-Arts style, it once housed the Reilly Brothers and Raub hardware store, and now contains a mall and apartment complex, called the Central Market Mall.
