Porter Medical Center, also known as Porter Hospital, is a 45-bed critical access hospital located in Middlebury, Vermont. [1] Founded by banker William Henry Porter to serve as a dual community hospital and infirmary to nearby Middlebury College, the hospital was dedicated on June 15, 1925.

Porter was born at Middlebury, Vermont on January 8, 1861. [2] He was a son of William Trowbridge Porter (1838–1898) and Martha Elizabeth (née Samson) Porter (1837–1917). [3] Porter was educated at Middlebury Academy and the Saratoga High School. [4]
