Sacred Heart Church is a historic church at 343 South Broad Street in Trenton, Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. It was built in 1889 and added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 2, 2002. The church was dedicated on June 30, 1889. [3]

St. Mary's was the second Catholic parish established in Trenton after St. John's, which was located on the present site of Sacred Heart Church on South Broad Street. [2] Ground was broken for the parish church on April 23, 1866, and it was dedicated on January 1, 1871, by Bishop James Roosevelt Bayley of Newark.
Camden became part of the Diocese of Trenton when it was established in 1881. The rectory, which had been built in 1861, was expanded in 1882. Sacred Heart Parish was established in 1885 from Immaculate Conception at a chapel that had been built in 1872.
The Diocese of Trenton removed Ron Becker of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Trenton from ministry after receiving complaints of sexual abuse. [29] The Vatican laicized him in 2002.
